Myrtue Medical Center Honors Nurse Katie Klein with DAISY Award

HARLAN – Myrtue Medical Center is proud to honor exceptional nursing staff with The DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses. This award, part of a nationwide program from the DAISY Foundation, recognizes the remarkable work nurses do every day.

Established in memory of J. Patrick Barnes, who received compassionate care from nurses during his battle with a rare autoimmune disease, the DAISY Award has been implemented at Myrtue since 2019. The center honors a deserving nurse twice a year.

In November 2025, Katie Klein, RN, BSN, from Myrtue’s Hospice Department, received this prestigious award. Her nomination praised her compassionate care and support for both patients and grieving families, showcasing the deep connections she fosters in her role.

“This award highlights the incredible work our nurses do every single day,” said Nicole Ohlinger, Chief Nursing Officer at Myrtue Medical Center. Celebrating nurses like Katie reinforces the importance of healthcare heroes in our community.
