Harlan's own Prairie Rose State Park has welcomed a new park manager, Beth Collins. With a strong background in environmental studies and wildlife ecology, Collins is excited to engage with park visitors and manage the park's natural resources.
A graduate of Iowa Lakes Community College and Northwest Missouri State University, Collins’ career with the Iowa Department of Natural Resources (DNR) began at Lake Okoboji. Most recently, she served as the natural resource technician at Lake Anita.
Collins is keen on the diverse responsibilities that come with managing Prairie Rose, from maintaining park facilities to supporting native species by controlling invasive plants. She is eager to explore the park and connect with the community.
Collins lives in Atlantic with her husband, Hunter, and their five-year-old son, Colt.
