Police Chase of Stolen Camaro Ends in Harlan Crash

One person was arrested following a police chase involving a stolen Camaro in Shelby County on December 24th.
The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle around 7:50 p.m. after determining it was reported stolen. However, the driver failed to stop, leading deputies on a pursuit that began in Harlan and extended through various roads in the area.
The chase ended when the Camaro crashed into a 2015 Chevy Silverado at the intersection of 12th Street and Pine Street. The Silverado was driven by Dale and Mary Swanson of Harlan, who were transported to Myrtue Memorial Hospital with minor injuries.
The driver of the stolen Camaro, identified as 47-year-old Alan Spencer, was taken into custody.
Assistance during the incident was provided by the Pottawattamie County Sheriff’s Office, Harlan Fire and Rescue, Shelby County Ambulance Service, and 712 Towing.
