Prairie Rose State Park to Get Major Upgrades
Exciting improvements are on the way for Prairie Rose State Park! A major redesign of the main boat ramp will enhance safety, while an upcoming alum treatment promises cleaner waters. Discover how these upgrades will benefit our local outdoor community!

The Iowa Department of Natural Resources is set to redesign the main boat ramp at Prairie Rose State Park, addressing safety concerns. The current steep drop at the ramp has caused vehicles and boats to bottom out, creating potential hazards for those using the facility.
Alongside the ramp improvements, an alum treatment is scheduled from October 13-17, aimed at improving water quality in Prairie Rose. This treatment will also be applied at Green Valley Lake during the same period. Alum acts as a coagulant, purifying the water by removing impurities.
These upgrades at Prairie Rose State Park are important for local outdoor enthusiasts and will enhance the overall experience for visitors.
