Betty Lou Thompson, a long-time resident of Shelby County, Iowa, passed away on December 9, 2024, at the age of 86. Born on July 24, 1938, in Manilla, she grew up on a local farm as one of nine siblings.
A graduate of Guthrie Center High School, Betty married twice, raising three children: a daughter, Tammy, and two children from her second marriage, Brandon and Metinka. She pursued a small business management degree while working multiple jobs to support her family, including roles at various local companies.
Known for her love of flowers, gardening, and arts, Betty also enjoyed traveling in her youth before settling into a more homebound lifestyle in her later years. Her legacy includes her three children, several grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.
