Beverly Lucille Caroline Larsen, a beloved member of the Harlan community, passed away on November 5, 2025, at the age of 96. Born on March 2, 1929, in Fort Dodge, Iowa, she grew up in Cedar Rapids and graduated high school in 1948.
Beverly's life was marked by dedication to family and education. After marrying Edwin F. Larsen in 1954, she blended their families and raised five children on a farm near Elk Horn. Alongside her family life, Beverly pursued a Bachelor’s degree in Education and taught for 28 years in local schools, impacting many young lives.
In addition to her teaching career, Beverly authored five books and contributed a long-running newspaper column. She was active in her church and community, helping Vietnamese refugees learn English and sharing her passion for Iowa's pioneer women.
Visitation will be held at Heartland Funeral Home in Harlan on Sunday, November 16, from 4 to 6 p.m., followed by a funeral service at Elk Horn Lutheran Church on November 17 at 10:30 a.m.
