Audra LaVerne "Bud" Williams, a beloved educator and coach, left an indelible mark on Iowa City's sports scene and the Harlan community. His legacy, celebrated through numerous awards and hall of fame inductions, will be honored at a memorial on February 18.

Audra LaVerne "Bud" Williams, a cherished member of the Iowa City community and former resident of Harlan, passed away on February 12, 2025. He was 92 years old and died following cardiac arrest at Grand Living in Coralville.
Bud was born on September 7, 1932, in Maryville, Missouri, and later moved to Harlan, Iowa, where he and his wife, Bonnie, began their family. His career as an educator and cross-country coach in the Iowa City Community School District spanned several decades, culminating in multiple honors including 21 Conference Coach of the Year awards.
His legacy includes numerous state and national accolades, and he was inducted into several halls of fame for his contributions to athletics. Beyond coaching, Bud loved hunting, fishing, and spending time with family.
The funeral service is scheduled for 6 PM on February 18, 2025, in Iowa City, with visitation starting at 4 PM. Memorial donations can be made to the Bud Williams Cross Country Scholarship.
