Remembering Constance DeForest: A Harlan Community Pillar

Constance Ann Marie DeForest, 72, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by family on July 14, 2025. Born on June 11, 1953, in Jefferson, Iowa, Connie spent a significant part of her life in Harlan, graduating from Harlan High School in 1972.

She married Karol “Woody” DeForest later that year, and together they raised five children: Sherry, Tim, Todd, Heather, and Katie. Connie had a rewarding career as a Certified Nursing Assistant, dedicating 20 years at Rose Vista and another decade at a Logan nursing home, where she was cherished by her residents and their families.

Known for her infectious laugh and love of family, Connie enjoyed baking and collecting antiques. She had a special bond with her grandchildren, often sharing movie nights filled with laughter.

Connie is survived by her husband Woody, her children, 16 grandchildren, and several siblings. She will be remembered for her selflessness and spirit of service.
