Remembering Del Johnson: A Beacon of Community Spirit

Delray "Del" Johnson, 87, of Peosta, passed away on May 18, 2025. A respected member of the community, he will be remembered for his contributions to local arts and real estate.

Del was born in Mallard, Iowa, and after graduating from high school in 1956, he served in the US Air Force. While studying at the University of Iowa, he met Joyce Nielsen, and they married in Harlan, Iowa, on June 19, 1965.

Del had a successful career in real estate, co-owning VIP Realty and serving as president of the Dubuque Board of Realtors. He was actively involved in the Dubuque Symphony Orchestra and the Dubuque Chorale, participating in international performances at venues like St. Peter's Basilica.

A devoted member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, he served as an elder and gave back to the community through various organizations.

Del is survived by his wife, Joyce, two sons, and six grandchildren. Memorials may be made to local charities, including Our Redeemer Lutheran Church.
