Remembering Edward Lee Morey: A Harlan Community Pillar

Edward Lee Morey, a well-known figure from Harlan, Iowa, passed away on November 26, 2024, at the age of 86. Born in Clearfield, Iowa, he married his beloved Georgia Grey in 1956 and dedicated much of his life to serving the community.

Ed began his career in barbering after graduating from Iowa Barber College and later transitioned into menswear. In 1976, he established Morey's Clothing in Harlan, creating a supportive environment for high school students and local youth.

Later, he joined Walmart, contributing to store management and operations, which allowed him to travel and expand his skills further. A lifelong sports enthusiast, Ed played various sports in his youth and passionately followed teams like the New York Yankees and the Green Bay Packers.

He leaves behind his wife of 68 years, Georgia, their children, and several grandchildren. A memorial service is scheduled for November 4 at Nelson Berna in Rogers, Arkansas. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
