Steve Finken, a beloved resident of Harlan, Iowa, has passed away at the age of 79. Born on August 28, 1945, he was the oldest of ten siblings and graduated from St. Joseph’s High School. He then attended Creighton University, graduating in 1968.
A dedicated member of the United States Marine Corps from 1968 to 1973, Steve flew aircraft during the Vietnam War. After his service, he enjoyed a successful 30-year career with Delta Airlines.
Steve married Sharon Dotzler in 1968, and they had three children, including daughter Julie and son John. His interests included flying, fishing, gardening, and managing the Finken Family Tree Farm. He treasured family adventures and time with his seven grandchildren.
Steve is survived by his wife, children, and numerous relatives. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Harlan on January 8, 2024, with visitation on January 7 at Pauley Jones Funeral Home.
