Shelby County Board Advances IT, Election Security, and Infrastructure

The Shelby County Board of Supervisors recently approved a new IT policy aimed at enhancing security and compliance within the county's IT department. IT Administrator Austin Staley made the request, which the board readily accepted.
In related news, Shelby County Election Commissioner Mark Maxwell announced a planned purchase of $21,063 for crucial election equipment, including new laptops and compatible printers, which the supervisors also approved.
Additionally, County Engineer Chris Fredricksen reported that the culvert repair project on M16 is nearing completion, with equipment moving to a new location. He also mentioned ongoing seal coating work on Corely Roads.
On a personnel note, Jail Administrator Kyle Lindberg introduced Amanda Irlmeier as the new Jail Sergeant. He reported two open positions in the jail and noted that while overall inmate numbers have decreased this year, there are ongoing challenges related to mental health that are contributing to repeat incarcerations.
