Shelby County is gearing up to celebrate National 4-H Week, joining over six million youth nationwide in the festivities. This year's theme, “Beyond Ready,” highlights the program's commitment to equipping young people for future success.
Research shows that 4-H members are significantly more likely to engage in community service, adopt healthy habits, and pursue STEM activities. In Shelby County, there are six active 4-H clubs and six Clover Kids clubs, with a total of 120 members in grades 4 to 12.
Jennifer Sellner, the Shelby County Youth Coordinator, announced several engaging activities for the week, including themed days like “Memory Monday” and “Wear Green Wednesday.” Participants can submit photos and memories to share their 4-H experiences on social media.
Libraries will offer free bookmarks, and past members will be celebrated through throwback posts. For those interested in joining a 4-H club or looking for more information, contact the Shelby County Extension Office.
