The Shelby County Community Foundation has announced it has awarded nearly $40,000 in grants to support various local nonprofit organizations and community projects. A total of $39,531 was distributed during the Fall 2025 grant cycle to eight deserving recipients.

The funding focuses on areas including human services, education, and public benefit, with 62.5% directed towards human services alone. Key recipients include:

  • Shelby County EMS Ambulance Service - $4,431 for a ventilator system.
  • Kids in the Village - $3,917 for furnishings and safety upgrades.
  • Elk Horn Fire Department - $5,000 for fire truck lighting.
  • Earling Fire & Rescue - $10,187 for SCBA replacement.
  • Shelby County Community Outreach - $4,000 for the Hero’s Attic renovation.
  • Shelby Fire & Rescue - $3,632 for emergency supplies.
  • Petersen Family Wellness - $4,569 for exercise class equipment.
  • Loess Hills Agriculture in the Classroom - $3,795 for educational programs.
