The Shelby County Extension Council has elected its officers during an organizational meeting held on January 7, 2025. This nine-member council plays a vital role in bringing educational resources from Iowa State University to the local community.

Kathy Fara from Irwin has been named chairperson, while Brenda Arkfeld from Portsmouth will serve as vice chairperson. Harlan resident Kristina Larsen has been elected secretary, and Elaine Baughman from Kirkman will take on the role of treasurer.
