Shelby County Launches Adopt-A-Family Holiday Drive
Join the spirit of giving this holiday season with the Shelby County Adopt-A-Family Program. Help provide meals and gifts to families in need while getting involved in the community. Applications for assistance are open until December 1—learn how you can make a difference!
The Shelby County Adopt-A-Family Program, organized by West Central Community Action (WCCA), is now accepting applications for families seeking holiday assistance. Residents of Shelby County who have children under 18 or seniors over 65 and meet specific income guidelines are eligible to apply until December 1, 2025.
This initiative aims to support families struggling to provide for a warm Christmas, including meals and gifts for children. Last year, WCCA helped 67 families, benefiting 195 children and seniors, and they hope to assist even more this holiday season.
WCCA is also calling for sponsors and donors from the community. Those interested can provide financial contributions or adopt a family by shopping for their specific needs. Gift profiles will be available each week in the Harlan Newspapers, allowing donors to choose a family to support.
Gift drop-off will take place on December 11 at the Shelby County Chamber of Commerce & Industry Atrium. For assistance or to get involved, contact WCCA at (712) 755-5602 or via email.
