The Shelby County Speedway kicked off its racing season with a thrilling opening night on Saturday, despite challenging wet weather. The event, sponsored by Pizza Ranch, featured a fun candy toss for kids during intermission and highlighted local racing talent.
In the Murphy Equipment IMCA Stock Cars, young driver Riley Christensen from Audubon claimed his first victory after leading from the start. Meanwhile, Corey Madden showcased his skills in the IMCA Sport Mods, taking the lead later in the race after some intense competition.
Colby Christensen also made waves in the IMCA Hobby Stock category, earning a win and contributing to the dominance of "Team Otis" at the event. The sport compact races attracted a robust field, with Shannon Mahlberg finishing strong.
The action-packed night concluded with Drew Baker's impressive performance in the IMCA Late Models, marking his first win at the Speedway.
