Shelby County State Bank Matches $10,000 for HCSD Fund

The Harlan Community School District Education Foundation received a $10,000 matching gift from Shelby County State Bank after a Giving Tuesday fundraiser.

The donation boosts the foundation’s short-term push toward a $250,000 endowed fund. To date the foundation has secured more than $100,000 in donations and pledges — progress that supports local schools and programs.

Those on hand for the check presentation included HCSD Superintendent Dr. Jenny Barnett; SCSB staff Penny Nelson and Jim Zimmerman (also a foundation board member); and HCSD STEM/Technology Integrationist Kylie Kumm.

Residents who want to support the expendable fund can give through the Community Foundation for Western Iowa.
