According to the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded around 4:30 a.m. to a welfare check near College Place and Pine Street. Upon arrival, an armed standoff ensued with suspect David Plagmann.
During negotiations, Plagmann made aggressive movements, prompting deputies to fire shots. Despite life-saving efforts at the scene, he was later pronounced dead at Myrtue Medical Center.
Authorities also discovered 31-year-old Alexis Martin deceased at the location. The deputy involved is currently on administrative leave, a standard procedure during investigations.
