Trojans Bid Farewell to Season After Tough Losses

Over the weekend, the Atlantic Trojans faced tough losses in both baseball and softball, marking the end of their seasons.

The Trojan baseball team was eliminated in the Iowa Class 3A substate quarterfinal by the Harlan Cyclones, falling 7-1. Despite outhitting Harlan 5-4, the Trojans struggled with discipline, allowing four walks and two hit batters, contributing to the Cyclones’ quick 3-0 lead. Atlantic managed to score once thanks to a bases-loaded walk, but a strong sixth inning for Harlan sealed their fate. The Trojans finished the season with a 9-16 record.

In softball, Atlantic lost to Centerville, 2-1, despite productive plays. The Trojans managed to keep the game close but couldn't capitalize on opportunities to tie. A solo home run from Peyton McLaren gave them a chance, but they couldn't muster another run. The softball team ended their season with a 27-14 record.
