Robert Louis Mages, a beloved figure from the Harlan area, passed away at the age of 70 on January 16, 2025, at his home near Panama, Iowa. Born on May 24, 1954, in Harlan, Bob was the oldest of eight children and graduated from Harlan High School in 1972.
He married Lori Kleffman in 1973 and established a family in Panama, where he worked in various jobs, including at a pork plant and later co-owning Mages Trucking. His life was marked by a deep love for music, a passion he shared with his father from a young age, and a strong commitment to his faith as a member of St. Mary Catholic Church.
Bob enjoyed the outdoors and treasured moments spent camping and fishing with family, especially his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, four children, ten grandchildren, and many other loved ones.
