Celebrating Mike Kolbe’s Legacy in Harlan: Farewell Party Set

Mike Kolbe is set to retire from Harlan Newspapers on January 31, wrapping up an impressive 42-year career in the community. Starting as an advertising account executive in 1982 after graduating from Iowa State University, Kolbe has made significant contributions to both the newspaper and the Harlan community.

Colleagues commend his unwavering dedication and humor, with Graphic Design Manager Lori Christensen stating he was not only a fantastic coworker but also a true friend. Kolbe has held various roles, including advertising manager and most recently, general manager.

Additionally, he has been heavily involved in local initiatives, serving on numerous boards and committees, and has received multiple awards for his community service, including Harlan's Citizen of the Year.

Loyal residents are invited to celebrate Kolbe’s retirement at a farewell party on January 31, from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Harlan Golf & Country Club.
