Memorial Service Planned for Harlan Native Gerald Krantz

Gerald Lee Krantz, 85, originally from Shelby County, Iowa, passed away on August 13, 2024, in San Diego, California, following a battle with cancer. Born on December 13, 1938, Jerry's roots trace back to a farm near St. Charles, Minnesota, where his family moved in the 1940s.

A proud Navy veteran, Jerry earned his Bachelor’s degree while serving and later had a successful career in real estate. He founded Krantz Realty & Investments, which later became National Properties. Known for his commitment to health and fitness, he actively participated in various sports and encouraged others to lead active lives.

Jerry was a devoted Catholic, heavily involved in church ministries, and supported numerous charities. He split his time between Carson City, Nevada, and his home in Baja California, Mexico. He is survived by four children, eight grandsons, and many relatives.

A memorial Mass will take place on April 25 at 11 AM at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Harlan. Family and friends are encouraged to join in celebrating his life.
