Remembering Kathleen Christensen: A Harlan Lifelong Legacy

Kathleen Christensen, a Harlan native, passed away on March 2, 2025, at the age of 96, at Cottonwood House in Columbus, Nebraska.

Kathy was born on March 26, 1928, in Harlan, Iowa. After graduating from Harlan High School in 1946, she pursued a successful nursing career, which lasted nearly 40 years. Kathy worked in various capacities, including as a school nurse in Columbus, where she was dedicated to children's health and well-being, earning the School Bell award for her service.

She met her husband, Clay Christensen, in Omaha, Nebraska, and together they raised three sons. Kathy was known for her adventurous spirit, lifelong learning, and strong Christian faith. She mentored many in her community and was a beacon of strength for her family.

Funeral services are set for 11 a.m. on March 12 at Highland Park Church, with visitation on March 11 at McKown Funeral Home.
